Risk and Change Management

We access the risk of change, you decide on the next move.

Recognizing the reasons that drive the desire to change is essential before moving forward with changes to process. Organizations often do not conduct a thorough analysis of the initial state and as a result superficially diagnose the cause of the problems. It is important to remember that not everything needs to be changed. And what’s the problem with interrupting projects during their lifetime? It means that instead of gaining ground with a new product, the organization loses the time and budget that was allocated to that project. That’s why it’s worth defining the purpose of the changes, as well as a plan and schedule of activities necessary to get to the next stage, which is that of implementing the changes.

After the initial diagnosis, it is essential to motivate the people making the changes and to communicate it all to them accordingly. The anxiety and resistance that arises among employees must be skillfully transformed into acceptance and a sense of necessity for change. At this time, it is important to provide employees with support in finding their way in the new reality and coping with their resistance and reluctance in the midst of change. If we want the change to be effective and sustainable, we need to take into account the organizational culture, the specifics of the company’s activities, as well as the motivation and commitment of the employees. Without these elements the change will not succeed.

Maintaining acceptance of the changes.

After the changes, the third stage is all about stabilization this is the so-called “freeze”. This includes stabilization of the transformations and maintaining these changes in the organization. This stabilization and maintenance of the changes must involve and impact the employees, the organizational culture and incentive systems, in an effort to prevent a return to the previous status quo. Without proper maintenance of the changes in the organization, the changes will probably not be fully accepted and so the “transplant will be rejected.” The result is that people will return to their previous ways of operating. Proper maintenance of the changes means to treat them as the natural state.
